In 1994 a forum of sculptors was held, and participants of the
International Snow and Ice Sculpture Festival in Perm had been invited to take part in it.
These forums became a tradition, and at one of them an idea of the organization, that
would unite interests of professional sculptors, support young sculptors and give a ground
to realize perspective ideas and projects of talented artists, arose. The sculptors
themselves suggested founding this organization, and their idea was supported by a group
of initiative people who became the founders of the Fund. In the end of 1990s the work to
realize this idea already began. Actually the Fund of Sculptors of Russia "Edinenie"
began its work before officially becoming an organization. The official date of foundation
of the Non-Commercial Fund of Sculptors of Russia "Edinenie" is 27 April 2001.
Airat and Elena Magliev (sculptors from Ufa) became the authors of the
name "Edinenie", that means "union". This name was chosen from many options
offered by the sculptors. The Fund is the union of different schools of art and ideas of
artists to reach the mutual goal of preservation and development of cultural traditions of
Russia.
The symbols of the organization were also created by the artists (see
the home page):
- The sail, which is the logo of the Fund, symbolizes the people who always keep the sail
full.
- The bear symbolizes a hidden noble force.
- The angel symbolizes our good intentions.
