The competition of Sand Sculpture within the framework of International Festival of Modern Plastic “The Season of Art” is finished on 5 June 2009.
During 5 days masters from Perm, St. Petersburg, Khabarovsk, Lithuania and Great Britain carved sand from 1 through to 5 June 2009. The jury gave the first place to the Perm team – Tatyana Kuznetsova and Marina Yerkovitch. Authors of the sand sculpture “Yuryatin” were given diplomas and the first prize.
Other prized are the following:
The second prize and second degree diplomas were given to Irina Kudryavtseva and Alexander Yeriomin (St. Petersburg), “A Great Beginning”.
The third prize and third degree diplomas are given to Andrius Petkus (Lithuania) and Darren Jackson (Great Britain), “A Pearl of the Kama”.
It became a good tradition to give a Polukarov Memorial Award, Polukarov was a talented Moscow sculptor. The award is given after team captains vote for a sculpture. This time the prize – a copy of Polukarov’s sculpture “Ikar” – was given to Evgheniy Tarnopolskiy and Stanislav Grigoriev, Khabarovsk, a sculpture “A City on the Kama”.
All the sculptors were given attendance diplomas, souvenirs from the Organizing Committee and the City Administration.
The site of the Competition will be open till 1 September 2009, on the territory near the Perm Museum of Modern Art: 2, Ordzhonikidzee St., Perm.
